About forty old professions are represented by a multitude of tools and objects. The Maison du Patrimoine testifies of local history, retracing former economical and fluvial activities. Besides the permanent presentation of old tools, a themed room is dedicated to the Meuse and its lock keepers, handlers of the barrages, haulers, boatmen, fishermen and former local industries using the river waters.
A visit to this Museum of Hastière is an enriching experience for everyone. The elder retrieve their childhood souvenirs, while youngsters discover the inventiveness and the hard labour of their ancestors. Pass agreeable moments between the Crafts and Traditions of this “House”.

Crafts and Traditions of land and waterDiscover the region’s heritage, the history of the villages and the professions linked to the Meuse in this museum, a true “House of Local Memory”. The Maison du Patrimoine testifies of the local history by way of retracing former economical and fluvial activities.
The collections are grouped around 3 themes: river life haulers, boatmen, yachtsmen, fishermen, lock keepers and handlers of the barrages land life stone cutters, masons, blacksmiths, farriers, tinsmiths, plumbers, zinc workers, roof slaters, carpenters, joiners, cabinetmakers, cartwrights, coopers, lumberjacks, road workers, gardeners, tree growers, farmers, harvesters, basket makers, model makers, mould makers, saddlers, shoemakers, clog-makers, bakers, butchers, knife grinders, cooks, wine-growers, beekeepers, but also teachers, doctors, hairdressers, barbers, tailors, photographers, printers, locksmiths, clock makers … industrial life overview of disappeared local industries like the pencil factory Crayons Gilbert in Hastière, the brickworks turned into the famous factory Céramanova, the brewery L’Abeille, the spinning mill of Tahaut, the sand working factory Sambre-et-Dyle in Hastière-Lavaux … free or guided visits for individuals, tourist groups and school groups
